FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything about switching to raw feeding, thawing, hygiene and frozen delivery.
Switching to BARF
How do I switch from kibble to BARF?
Most dogs switch over 5–7 days. Start with one gentle menu (such as chicken), replacing more of the old food each day. Some owners prefer a direct switch — both work for a healthy dog.
Is it normal for stools to change?
Yes. On raw food, stools are usually smaller and firmer. If they are very hard and pale, reduce bone; if soft, add more bone or a leaner menu.
Can I mix BARF with jars?
Yes. Jars are complete food and can replace one meal a day or be used when travelling.
Thawing
How do I thaw BARF?
In the fridge, in a closed container, for 12–24 hours. Don't thaw at room temperature or in the microwave.
How long does thawed food keep?
Up to 48 hours in the fridge. Never refreeze.
Can I warm the food?
Serve it at room temperature — take it out of the fridge 15–20 minutes before the meal. Don't cook it: cooked bones are dangerous.
Safety and hygiene
Is raw food safe?
Every batch is tested for Salmonella and the cold chain is never broken. As with any raw meat, keep good hygiene: wash hands, bowls and surfaces.
Are bones a risk?
Bones in our menus are ground. Whole bones (necks, marrow bones) should always be fed raw and under supervision. Never feed cooked bones.
Is BARF suitable for homes with small children?
Yes, with good hygiene. Feed your pet away from play areas and clean the bowl after meals.
Frozen delivery
How does frozen food arrive?
In Sofia, in our own refrigerated van on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. Elsewhere, by courier in a thermo box with coolers that keeps the products frozen.
Why is there a 5 kg minimum outside Sofia?
A thermo box works best when full: more frozen mass holds the cold longer in transit.
Why do parcels only ship Monday to Wednesday?
So they arrive before the weekend and never sit in a courier depot.
Can I order jars and BARF together?
Yes. They travel together in the thermo box and are delivered under the frozen rules.
Cats and dogs
How are the cat menus different?
Cats are obligate carnivores: their menus have almost no vegetables, are more finely ground and contain added taurine, which cats cannot make in sufficient amounts.
Can my cat eat the dog menu?
Not as a main diet — dog menus have no added taurine and include vegetables. Cat menus are made specifically for cats.
How much food does a cat need?
About 3 % of body weight a day for an adult cat — around 120 g for a 4 kg cat. Use the calculator for a personal portion.
